“Scouts’ honor. We didn’t call POTUS.” (“And we didn’t like his speech, either.”)

Are there no limits to how far Donald Trump will go to mislead? Is anyone safe from his lies? We ask because the President has now turned his Alternative Fact gun on — get this — the Boy Scouts.

In case you’ve forgotten Trump’s speech at the Scouts’ Jamboree last week, let’s just say it was a hot mess. After saying he wouldn’t talk politics, he did just that, and mixed in a delightful blend of venom, bullying and references to cocktail parties and even sex. Here’s a compilation by CNN:

Trump’s remarks were so inappropriate — and drew so many complaints from parents — that the Boy Scouts of America, officially disassociated itself from the address. And a high-ranking BSA official apologized for “the political rhetoric that was inserted into the Jamboree.”

So, naturally, the Fabricator-in-Chief wasted no time clearing things up, telling a Wall Street Journal reporter, “I got a call from the head of the Boy Scouts saying it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them …”

Imagine Trump’s chagrin (yeah, right) when the Scouts — committed by oath to telling the truth — denied that there was any such call.

And the Scouts weren’t the only people bursting a Trumpian phone-call bubble on Tuesday. The Mexican President went on record denying Trump’s claim that he had called to compliment Trump on his border policies.

So, how did White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders explain the, uh, mixed messages? Here she is at today’s White House press briefing:

And that brings us back to the wisdom we learned all those months ago from Kellyanne Conway: In the Trump White House, there are no lies — only Alternative  Facts.

NOTE: There are numerous rumors floating around DC at the moment that the Mother of Alternative Facts might be making a comeback as (are you sitting down?), Communications Director! That’s right, Out with the Mooch, In with the (Fill in the blank).
